Thank you for your support!
Yes, I'm here to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
But I would also like to make my walk a pilgrimage of sorts, a way to unite myself with those who need prayer.
Today, I'm here to ask two things.
1. Can I pray for for you?
I'm going to write down all these intentions, and the walk will be, for me, a prayer walk. I'll be praying for the soul of my grandmother, who died recently due to a very fast-acting bout of lymphoma, and tapping into the patrons who seem to have just jumped in to walk with me.
2. Will you pray for the walk?
Yes, I'd like a donation. (Really, I would.) But I think what's more important is uniting ourselves behind this in a more eternal way. So could you please keep this in your daily intentions? The walk is October 12, the day before Pope Francis consecrates the world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. And there's the 40 Days for Life. No shortage of things to pray for. Lump 'em together: God knows. Let's storm heaven.
I just "met" Blessed Chiara Luce Badano recently, when a friend on Facebook mentioned that he entrusts all cancer patients to her care.
After doing some research, I've added her to my "team" for the Light the Night walk.
Join me in praying for her intercession, won't you?
In imitation of Christ, Blessed Chiara Badano embraced great suffering with much faith and courage. The light of her life shines brightly in our dark world. Help us to turn to her witness when we are faced with challenges. Let her be our model as we suffer in our lives and as we watch those we love suffer. May her example inspire us, especially as we gather to support lymphoma and leukemia research.
You can learn more about Blessed Chiara at Saints Resource and at the Salt + Light blog. I also loved this prayer card I found.
I will be walking in honor of Marilyn Schmidt, who passed away on August 31 after knowing about her lymphoma for less than a month.
We knew her as Nini. She was a woman who changed lives and whose life will be remembered as a beacon to many.
Her struggle with lymphoma was short, but the lymphoma changed our lives.
Please remember the family in your prayers.
Yes, that's right. I have a whole shelf of books that are earmarked for giveaways on my blog and some other sites, but I'm giving you priority.
If you do give anonymously on this site, send me an email or contact me via my website. In the event that I run out of books from my giveaway shelf (most of which are new releases), I'll send you one of my books.
