Welcome to my Light The Night Walk homepage.
Personal Note: Why I walk, why I care.
In November of 1999 I lost my Grandmother, Aline Boyd to Leukemia. I walk in her memory. I walk and raise money in the hopes to prevent the pain and sadness that my Grandmother and my family experienced when she lost her battle.

I have re-written the lyrics to Swim by Jack's Mannequin to explain to people why I participate in the Leukemia and Lymphoma foundation Light the Night walk.
For those of you out there who are Jack's Mannequin fans it will make more sense, but for those who are not...please read anyway!

Verse 1
I've gotta walk
Walk for their lives
Walk for the research
That saves them
When they're not so sure they'll survive
I've gotta walk
And walk cause they hurt
No matter who's watching
The money goes so far
To keep them on earth
The disease will pull them
Away from their loves
She sees me from up above
Chorus:
My Grandmom got cancer
When I was just 18 years old
She fought the hard battle
But in the end cancer won
They called in Leukemia
I walk for brighter days
Despite the fact that she's gone
Now watching from up above
I'm not giving in
I Walk
Verse 2
I've gotta walk
So their pain can end
Walk for their families
Their lovers their sisters
And brothers and friends
Yeah I've gotta walk
Just walk for the cause
Walk for the sick and the weary
Who's bodies could not fight the flaw
Our lives shouldn't keep us
Away from the cause
She sees me from up above
Chorus:
My Grandmom got cancer
When I was just 18 years old
She fought the hard battle
But in the end cancer won
They called in Leukemia
I walk for brighter days
Despite the fact that she's gone
Now watching from up above
I'm not giving in
I Walk
Bridge:
I gotta walk
Walk in the dark
At the end of September
To make something better and just do my part
Yeah I've gotta walk
Walk in Light the Night
I'll find a close walk site
I'll try to raise money, to do something right
The balloons will lead us
We walk cause we love
She sees me from up above
Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's evening walk and fundraising event. It is the nation's night to pay tribute and bring hope to thousands of people battling blood cancers and to commemorate loved ones lost.

While I'm not an expert, I do know that Leukemia can be fought. I belong to the "Be the Match" national registry of bone marrow donors. To think that people die from this disease when there could be someone out there who is a match, but isn't registered, is too frustrating to comprehend. By walking for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, I hope that the money I help raise can help save the lives of those who can be saved, and that it can fund the research to fight these diseases. Please take a look at their website and consider becoming a registered donor.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) funds lifesaving research that has contributed to major advances in the treatment of blood cancers and treatments for other types of cancer, such as chemotherapy and stem cell transplants. These treatments have helped patients live better, longer lives. New targeted therapies that kill cancer cells without harming normal tissue are providing drugs and procedures that are improving quality of life.
- A donation of $25 provides patients and their loved ones with FREE booklets that contain up-to-date information on their disease and help them make informed decisions about their treatment options.
- A donation of $50 makes possible a Family Support group with a trained facilitator where comfort can be found and experiences can be shared among patients and family members.
- A donation of $100 helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies and materials critical to carrying out their search for cures.
- A donation of $1,000 makes possible one- on-one conversations with health care specialists who provide patients with information about their disease, treatment options, and helps prepare them with questions for their health care team.
Please make a donation to support my participation in the Light The Night Walk and help save lives. Be sure to check my Web site frequently to see my progress, and thanks for your support!
