"JOSHUA & FRIENDS" - Hope for a brigher tomorrow
Feb 19, 2012
Move over cancer! There's no room for both of us!!
"Joshua & Friends" was started just after 6 year old Joshua was diagnosed with leukemia in 2006. What was expected to be a "normal" treatment plan of 36 months was anything but. Nothing like a little Valley Fever to add a bit of extra special "you must be kidding, right?" to the journey! 40 months of daily chemo and 5 years of treatment for the infection, Joshua is now 12 and celebrating survivorship to the fullest - something he hopes all kids will have the chance to do.
We are reminded each and every day that cancer doesn't end with that final treatment. Joshua has been relentless in asking everyone he knows to help him change that! Own a restaurant? He'll be calling for a gift certificate to raffle. Have an office space? It's soon to be decorated in Light The Night icons. He's even hosting a "take a swing at cancer" event where he will part with the more than 2,000 golf balls he has collected in the streets surrounding the golf courses - make a donation, grab a ball! The team has offered over $100,000 to help friends facing this disease. It's incredible! Your support provides co-pay assistance, financial aid, educational services and most importantly, helps fund research projects that are truly saving lives and leaving fewer long term effects so those lives can be full and fantastic!
- EVERY 4 MINUTES SOMEONE IS DIAGNOSED WITH BLOOD CANCER.
- EVERY 10 MINUTES SOMEONE LOSES THE BATTLE.
- LEUKEMIA TAKES MORE OF OUR KIDS' LIVES (under 20) THAN ANY OTHER CANCER.
Save the Date! We'll Celebrate Life!!
Saturday, November 10
Tempe Arts Park - 5:00pm
Evening Walk - Live Music - Food - Entertainment - Survivor Parade - Kids' Zone Interactive Patient Services Activities - Remembrance Ceremony
More than 5,000 participants are expected to 'light the night", carrying illuminated balloons: red for supporters, white for survivors and gold in honor of lives lost.
No donations are too small. Every penny moves us closer to that cure.
Thanks! J & F
