Elizabeth Walks for Her Angel!

Hey Everyone! I can't believe that it has been 7 years since Mary Anne passed away! 7 years is a lifetime. I have my first clear memories of Mary Anne when I was 6-7. I remember following her around Camden Road (barefoot, of course) and wanting to be just like her. I remember listening to the soundtrack of Grease and dancing with her (when she would let me).

And now, when Nate does something really funny or I haven't a clue how to handle something - who is the first person I think to call - Mary Anne. And then I have to remind myself she's not there. And why?? Becasue she got Leukemia and passed away 3 days after being diagnosed.

Am I mad? Yes. What can I do about it? Raise awareness about Leukemia so that another family doesn't go through what I went through.

Did you know:

  • Leukemia is the number one disease killer of children under age 15
  • More than 747,000 Americans live with blood cancer
  • Every 10 minutes, someone dies from a blood cancer
  • • • Ten times as many adults as children are stricken with leukemia. More than half of all cases occur in persons over age 60.

Light The Night is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's evening walk and fundraising event that pays tribute and brings hope to thousands of people battling blood cancers and to commemorate loved ones lost.

LLS researchers have conducting more than 90 clinical trials, a critical step in the development of new treatments and cures that will help patients live better, longer lives.

  • A donation of $25 provides patients and their loved ones with FREE booklets that contain up-to-date information on their disease and help them make informed decisions about their treatment options.
  • A donation of $50 makes possible a Family Support group with a trained facilitator where comfort can be found and experiences can be shared among patients and family members.
  • A donation of $100 helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies and materials critical to carrying out their search for cures.
  • A donation of $1,000 makes possible one- on-one conversations with health care specialists who provide patients with information about their disease, treatment options, and helps prepare them with questions for their health care team.

Please make a donation to support my walking for my angel. Be sure to check my site frequently to see my progress, and thanks for your support!
