In Loving Memory of Evan Nelms
(AML Leukemia Angel)
June 11, 2007 ~ April 13, 2013
Welcome to Evette Cooper's (Evan Nelms Mom) TEAM EVAN - EVANSTRONG Light the Night Walk Team Fundraising Page
I am dedicated to raising awareness and funding to find a cure for Leukemia. I walk in honor of my son, Evan Nelms, a 5 year old little superhero, who fought a heroic battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was originally diagnosed on April 22, 2012 at the age of 4. He went through four intense rounds of chemo and was considered in remission for 5 months. On January 4, 2013, we found out that Evan has relapsed in his testicles. For the next 3 months, Evan would fight the battle of his life again. The Leukemia moved into the bone marrow, then his right eye causing complete blindness in that eye, then a large Leukemic mass in his abdomen by his kidney and aorta, then over powering his blood. After two intense rounds of chemo again, Evan’s Leukemia was too aggressive and he became chemo resistant. We were able to take his "Make a Wish" trip to Disney World one week before he was diagnosed terminal. It was an amazing trip; one we will never forget! Upon returning to Philadelphia (CHOP), the doctor told us that Evan was now terminal and had a few days to a week at most. That was April 10, 2013. Saturday morning at 9:57 am, April 13, 2012, Evan joined the angels.
I miss my Love Bug incredibly! He lit up a room and had so much life inside him. He never once complained about his cancer. All he wanted was to be a kid. I know that Evan is an amazing guardian angel in Heaven because he was on Earth. He had a purpose during his short 5 years; in turn, after his death, I have a purpose to find a cure. I dedicate my life to raise awareness and funding for Leukemia and Childhood Cancer. God bless all those who help us reach our goal and know that Evan is watching over, protecting us all! I love you to the moon and back Evan and the star we meet at every night! HUGS and sincere thanks and gratitude!!
I walk for Evan and so many more fighting this awful disease. Evan moved mountains and has become a true inspiration to so many. I hope through Evan’s legacy, to raise funding to find a cure. Fly High Evan! Our team is EVANSTRONG, always and forever!!!!
