Michelle Carl and Monty's Fundraising Page ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Team Griffin Page: http://pages.lightthenight.org/il/ChicagoL09/TeamGriffin Griffin's Blog: http://griffinmaks.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------- September 20, 2009 Dear Family and Friends, This Saturday, we're participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) "Light The Night Walk." This is a nationwide fundraising event that celebrates and commemorates lives touched by cancer and raises money for cancer research. We're participating for many reasons. This is in memory of our dad who died of leukemia five years ago. Mariano Averia was 72 and we miss him very much. This is also in honor of Griffin Maks. Griffie is 3 1/2 years old and oldest of triplets. He is sweet, adventurous, full of life, and a fighter (see blog above). His smile and hugs can make your day! Lastly, more than 138,500 Americans were diagnosed with blood cancers just this past year alone. We would like to ask you to please join us in our fight against these deadly diseases in two different ways. You can join Team Griffin on Saturday, September 26. Another way is for you to donate to our team. It is not easy for us to ask given the economy, but we feel it is such a worthy cause. Any donation of $1, $3, $5, $10, and $25---can make a difference! Please use this page to donate online quickly and securely. You will receive an email confirmation of your donation as soon as it is made. Thank you in advance for your support! It will make a difference in the lives of thousands of patients battling blood cancers. Sincerely, Michelle Carl and Monty Rizal P.S. Please forward this page to as many people as you can to encourage them to donate as well! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE POWER OF YOUR DONATION Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's evening walk and fundraising event. It is the nation's night to pay tribute and bring hope to thousands of people battling blood cancers and to commemorate loved ones lost. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) funds lifesaving research that has contributed to major advances in the treatment of blood cancers and treatments for other types of cancer, such as chemotherapy and stem cell transplants. These treatments have helped patients live better, longer lives. New targeted therapies that kill cancer cells without harming normal tissue are providing drugs and procedures that are improving quality of life.
