"INVESTED IN A WORLD WITHOUT CANCER"
Our commitment to the families we serve extends far beyond their financial needs. Lantern has been supporting many charities and organizations over the years.
Lantern Investments is honored to be sponsoring and participating in the 2016 Light The Night Walk benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). LLS’s work, along with the care and support it provides, has very personal meaning to our company.
Our colleague Seth Cogan was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Stage 4 Lymphoma. He was only 36. This once strong and healthy man was weakened by more than 8 months of chemotherapy. Fortunately, Seth was lucky – research had paved the way for new drugs that weren’t available in 20 year ago, and Seth has now been in remission now for 12 years.
Second, on March 2012, my co-worker John at 31 had blurred vision. He went to the eye doctor and the doctor said something did not look right. The next day his blood test came back with a white blood count of 265,000 (normal is less than 10,000). He was told he had Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia. That was the last thing he thought he would hear. He then asked if was he going to die. Today he is slowly improving with the great research and drugs such as Gleevec.
The Light The Night Walk brings together families and communities to honor blood cancer survivors, as well as those lost to the diseases, and our team is helping to shine a light on the importance of finding cures and providing access to treatments for blood cancer patients.
Without your efforts LLS could not fund the research of such treatments as targeted therapies that zero in on cancer cells and kill them or immunotherapy drugs that use a patient's own immune system to kill cancer.
Friends, families and co-workers form fundraising teams, and millions of consumers help by donating at retail outlets. These efforts culminate in inspirational, memorable evening walks in over 200 communities across North America each fall.
Please join our team's effort today by registering to walk or by making a donation. Your participation in the Light The Night Walk will save lives not someday, but today.

Despite advances in survival rates, more than one third of blood cancer patients still do not survive five years after diagnosis. Further funding is needed to advance research and ensure access to treatments to help save more lives. I hope you will join me in support of this important cause.
With thanks and gratitude,
