Welcome to Center for Inquiry-L.A.'s Light the Night Team Homepage
Sep 19, 2013
The Los Angeles Freethought community has joined forces to fight cancer by participating in the Light the Night Walk in Hollywood on October 5. The Center for Inquiry-Los Angeles wishes to acknowledge and thank the following groups for supporting this effort by marching with us: AAHS (http://www.uusm.org/getting-involved/social-groups/aahs) and Atheists United (http://atheistsunited.org/)
Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's annual fundraising walk to pay tribute and bring hope to people battling cancer. Hundreds of thousands of participants raise funds for lifesaving research and patient services.
CFI-L.A. is proud to once again be a part of the Foundation Beyond Belief International Team. In its first year, FBB teams raised $430,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the largest amount ever raised by a first year non-corporate team and the 4th largest amount raised by any team in the nation in 2012. Freethinkers across the US and Canada formed 150 local teams. Our goal this year is to unite the Freethought Movement around the world to raise $500,000 U.S. Dollars in 2013. Last year, CFI-L.A.'s team raised over $7,500 for LLS, the second-largest amount raised by any FBB team.
Donations to our team will be matched!
Being a part of the FBB international team highlights nontheist giving globally and raises awareness for local secular groups. To support these goals, the Stiefel family has pledged to match the first $250,000 we raise for LLS! As an extra incentive for groups to get involved, the top fundraising teams will have the opportunity to direct up to $5,000 in grants, courtesy of the Stiefel Freethought Foundation.
Please join our team's effort today by registering to walk or by making a donation.
More information about the FBB's efforts to raise $500,000 can be found here: http://pages.lightthenight.org/2013/FBB.
Want to donate offline? Checks should be written to "The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society" with "Center for Inquiry-L.A. FBB" or the walker's name on the memo line and mailed or brought to CFI-L.A., 4773 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90027.

Because science works.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is on the brink of incredible breakthroughs that have already begun to change the lives of thousands of patients; treatments that can manage a person's condition with a daily pill, therapies that seek out cancer cells and kill them, and the use of a patient's own immune system to eradicate cancer not someday, but today.
Forty years ago, there was only a 3% chance of surviving a childhood leukemia. Today, 90% of children with leukemia survive.
LLS is working to ensure that patients have access to research discoveries and therapies that save lives. Participation in Light The Night can help make cures happen!
Please join our team's effort today by registering to walk or by making a donation. Your participation in the Light The Night Walk will save lives today. Be sure to check our team Web site frequently to see our progress, and thanks for your support!
