It's hard to believe, after fundraising this summer, the event is finally here!

Here's a wrap up of what some of our team members have been up to:

- Change jars at area businesses including River Rock Coffee (St. Peter, MN), J's Liquors (St. Paul, MN), and at all performances of Eat Street Player's "Fiddler on the Roof" (running through Sunday in Minneapolis :-)

- Online fundraising! So far our team has raised a good part of our goal just by building websites! Teammates have also taken donations in person!

- Penguin sales generated some money for our team - let me know if you're still interested in one for $10!

- "Music and Friends for Summer's End" raised about $200 for our goal and was TONS of fun to put on!

- Bagel Day at the St. Paul Bagelry raised almost $100 for our goal and was totally delicious!

Thank you to ALL that supported us in this endeavor! Please forward information to all you know so we can make that final push to Sunday. Next stop, Target Field!!

With just 1 week before the beginning of the Great Minnesota Get Together, we know the sun is setting on Summer 2010. Team El Camino will be hosting an afternoon/evening of music, food, specials, and events at the Coffee Grounds on the corner of Hamilne and Hoyt. Check out this line up!

4pm - North Como String Studio

5pm - Open jam featuring Karen Krueger and Chris Markoe

6pm - Eric Martin

7pm - Natural Babbit

8pm - The Johnson Twins

This event is free and open to all ages, but donation jars will be available, so give what you can and help us out. Please come and celebrate the end of summer and help us see the end of blood cancers!

Please support the businesses that are supporting us! If you know of other businesses that would like to host a change jar for about a month, let us know. The more jars we have, the better! Stay tuned, we may have a change jar in WISCONSIN!!

J's Liquors in Falcon Heights - JUST north of the State Fair on Snelling and Larpenteur. I'm not sure if I have the authority to do so, but I might just go ahead and declare J's Liquors the official liquor store of Labor Day weekend :-)

Ok, so that last post must not have worked...

Well, basically it said that Light the Night is something my mom and I have done together for the past 5 years or so. It is very exciting to see the money we fundraise going towards research and helping the find a cure for cancers, but specifically Leukemia and Lymphoma. This year, there will be a few differences. The walk has been moved to Target Field (no offense, Lake Phalen, but this is TARGET FIELD!!!). Also, instead of being just the two of us, look for more names to pop up on our team page. Rachael "Victoria" Athmann has asked to join the team and I've also invited Chris Markoe to join as well. Feel free to donate to anyone on the team to help us with our goals! I set our goal at $3,000....I don't really know how many walkers we'll have or how much they'll raise, but I feel that our goal is MORE than attainable! PS, my goal is going to be MUCH higher than $100, but it won't let me change it!!

I'm getting long-winded. Let me tell you how you can help. You can donate online or keep your ears open for any fundraising events my team has. THEN Please share this page on your facebook. Social media is EXPLODING in our culture and it would be a great way to get the word out. You can visit Karen's fundraising page to learn more about how the North Como String Studio is getting involved. You can email family, friends, neighbors, etc. Most of all, GET THE WORD OUT!!
