Thomas, A Mighty Myeloma Fighter
Welcome to my Light The Night Fundraising page!
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) funds the research and development of therapies. In the past 2 years, there has been 5 new drugs that has been approved for use with newly diagnosed and relapsed Multiple Myeloma Patients. Programs like the LLS Light the Night walk helps fund these treatments for not only Myeloma patients but others that has been diagnosed with a blood cancer. Please help me support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night Walk by donating towards my fundraising efforts today. You can help bring us closer to living in a world without cancers!
I was diagnosed wiith a blood cancer called Multiple Myeloma at the age of 34. This is a cancer of the plasma cells that affects the bones. It is most common in African American men age 73 and above. At diagnosis, the average life span for newly diagnosed patients was 3-5 years.
Multiple Myeloma is considered as a non- curable cancer but treatable with a bone marrow transplant. I have undergone 3 transplants in a 5 year span. I am grateful to be the Honored Hero for this years Light the Night Campaign. With this title, I am given the opportunity to tell my story about my journey with Multiple Myeloma. While gong through transplant with my brother, he said that "God put me here to minister to other patients". I have used those words as words of encouragement in hopes to inspire others to not take this diagnosis as a death sentence and to live their lives to the fullest.
Our group of Mighty Myelom Fighters are a close knit group that provides general conversation and common knowledge about our personal journeys of dealing with this disease. This group is just some of the few patients that the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society provides support and provides assistance too.
Money raised from the Light The Night Walk allows the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to fund treatments for patients that are suffereng from all forms of blood cancers. LLS' funding saves thousands of lives every day. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society have surpassed the $1Billion mark in contributions for blood cancer research.
