The staff at Countryside Animal Clinic was affected by leukemia when our founder, Dr. Debra McVey Wright was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in September 2007. She had already been battling breast cancer since 2004, somehow managing to juggle her veterinary duties, home life, and cancer treatment so that she entered remission in 2006. However once she was afflicted with leukemia, it was so devastating to her health and stamina that she was unfortunately never able to resume her role as veterinarian. Dr. McVey valiantly battled against leukemia, enduring extended hospitalizations and numerous cutting-edge treatments. Her family, including her husband Dr. Ken Wright and 2 sons, and our team at Countryside pulled together in support of Dr. McVey. We wanted to give back to her as she had given to so many pets and clients over her twenty-five year career as a veterinarian. Sadly, Dr. McVey passed away on June 17, 2009 from complications of leukemia. We all miss Dr. McVey and her contributions to pet and client care, as well as our clinic. We are banding together as a team to raise money for research to fight this devastating disease. Thank you for supporting our Countryside Animal Clinic team, in memory of Dr. Debra McVey Wright.
