Welcome to the Brannon's Light The Night Walk homepage.
Anyone who knows Carrie knows that she is a Daddy’s Girl. Anyone who knows Sean knows that he is who he is today because of his Dad.
Sean’s Dad, Ken Brannon, was first diagnosed with Hodkgin’s Lymphoma at the age of 28 and given only a 15% chance to survive five years. He beat those odds. In 1999 he was diagnosed with Non-Hodkgin’s Lymphoma. He beat those odds again. Unfortunately, in 2003 he passed away from other health complications.
Carrie's Dad, Wilson Dew, was diagnosed with Non-Hodkgin’s Lymphoma in 1999 which has in turn morphed into Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. He has fought this courageous battle for ten years and he will continue to fight this battle for ten plus more.
In 2010, our family will start an annual tradition and raise money for a very important cause: finding better treatments and cures for blood cancers so patients can live better, longer lives through The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night Walk.
This team is named “I KEN DEW IT” after both of our father’s. Not only will Sean and I be walking but we are including Will and Kate as well. Will is 4 and Kate is 3. Ken passed away before they were born but we know he watches over them daily. Will (Wilson Ryan) is named after my daddy. I couldn’t think of a more fitting name for the child we waited for for so long. Sean and I want them to know a cure for blood cancers in their lifetime.
Carrie will also walk for Deana Reynolds who died from Burkitt's Lymphoma at age 39, after an 11-month battle to live so she could parent her two young boys - Zane and Zach. Deana was a fellow adoptive mother who gave me faith when I thought I would never be a mommy.
Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's evening walk and fundraising event. It is the nation's night to pay tribute and bring hope to thousands of people battling blood cancers and to commemorate loved ones lost.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) funds lifesaving research that has contributed to major advances in the treatment of blood cancers and treatments for other types of cancer, such as chemotherapy and stem cell transplants. New targeted therapies that kill cancer cells without harming normal tissue are providing drugs and procedures that are improving quality of life.
In fact, in 2009 alone, LLS researchers were conducting more than 90 clinical trials, a critical step in the development of new treatments and cures that will help patients live better, longer lives.
A donation of $25 provides patients and their loved ones with FREE booklets that contain up-to-date information on their disease and help them make informed decisions about their treatment options.
A donation of $50 makes possible a Family Support group with a trained facilitator where comfort can be found and experiences can be shared among patients and family members.
A donation of $100 helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies and materials critical to carrying out their search for cures.
A donation of $1,000 makes possible one- on-one conversations with health care specialists who provide patients with information about their disease, treatment options, and helps prepare them with questions for their health care team.
Please make a donation to support the Brannon’s participation in the Light The Night Walk and help save lives. Be sure to check my Web site frequently to see my progress, and thanks for your support!
