Dear Friends,

We are pleased and excited to announce that Progressive Community Management has made a commitment to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night® Walk for our 6th year. Six years ago, we formed the Laurie’s Lifesavers Team to support our own Laurie Clark after she was diagnosed with lymphoma. Laurie is doing wonderfully, thanks to the research and new treatment drugs that have become available as a direct result of generous donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

This year we formed a new team, WINNing the Fight, to honor of our friend, John Winn and his family. Here is a bit about John as written by his amazing wife Lindsay:

On May 29, 2009, I gave birth to our first child, Jack. Two days before, my husband John’s father passed away unexpectedly during heart surgery. The birth of our son was the best day of our life. 3 days after Jack was born, John was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. We hit all the major life stresses one can go through within 1 week.

John went through 6 rounds of chemo for low-grade stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. We were told that this would put him in remission for many years, but we would have to have a stem cell transplant. 5 weeks after his last treatment we discovered another lump. John developed symptoms and landed in the ER. He was suffering from organ failure and after 8 days his cancer was back and was very aggressive. We had Xmas in the hospital, not even with our son. John was transferred to the City of Hope where his doctor diagnosed him with high-grade, Stage 4 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Within the last 5 months, John was hospitalized more times than he was home and had to go through several rounds of aggressive chemo to put the cancer in remission while we waited for a donor. We were blessed to find a match and on May 5, 2010, John’s new birthday, he received his new cells.

Last year was the best year of ours lives because our son Jack was born, but it was also one of the worst because of John’s diagnosis and losing his father. We are taking everything day by day, but I sometimes wonder how we are getting through it. We have faith that we will.

Our Laurie is proof that with proper treatment, love, support and encouragement wonderful things are possible. It is now our turn to do the same for John and his family!

Over the past five years combined our team has raised over $60,000 and have been the #1 fundraiser for a company of our size. We know that this year is a tough year for all of us, but we can’t do it without your support and ask for your assistance once again. Our Team, WINNing the Fight, will be participating in the September 19, 2010 Light the Night event at Anaheim Stadium. Light the Night is an annual, evening fundraising walk to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer.

We hope you’ll agree with us that this cause is worth your support. Please join us by making an online donation by August 30th or by mail to our office. All tax deductible donations should be made payable to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society®, the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education and patient services. The Society meets the standards of the Better Business Bureau for charitable accountability. We encourage you to join the team and help us exceed the $10,000.00 goal we’ve set.

We will also have other ways to contribute to this great cause through our Bake Sales, Irvine Improv Comedy Night, Wild Rivers coupon program, Paper Balloon sales and our first ever Parking Lot Sale – Second Time Around. Please continue to check our website for more event dates and details. If you have any questions or would like to join us in our Walk, please call us at (949) 582-7770. Thank you in advance for your support, which will help save lives.

Warm Regards,

PROGRESSIVE COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT
