The family and friends of Matt Cwiertny have formed the Mother of All T-cell Takedowns (MATT) walk team in honor Matthew Aaron Cwiertny who passed away on October 3, 2009 at the age of 24. While the MATT team has its own page, we ask that all who wish to donate in Matt's memory do so through the walk page we have set up in honor of Matt at the link above. We are working to raise $50,000 in Matt's name through donations to his walk page. If we can do so we will be able to direct the funds raised to an LLS researcher who is conducting research to find cures for Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) induced lymphomas. While researchers know there is a connection between EBV and lymphoma, they are not sure how EBV causes lymphoma and have not found a way to effectively treat EBV or NK T-cell lymphoma, which Matt suffered from. Please consider making a donation in Matt's name by going to his page at the link above and clicking on the "Donate Now" button or clicking on his name to the right and help us raise the money to find a cure for EBV-induced lymphomas.

The Mother of All T-Cell Takedowns team will be lighting the night at Anaheim Stadium on September 19, 2010. The Light the Night walk is the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's national annual evening walk fundraiser where participants raise money to fund blood cancer cures and walk with lighted balloons - red for supporters, white for patients and survivors, and gold in memory of those of who have left us - to show support for those battling and who have battled blood cancers.
