The Vander Burgh Family Joins the "Cures Rock!" Team August 30, 2009 was supposed to be my twin's remission re-birthday. We were supposed to celebrate another year of her conquering cancer. Instead, her cancer came back again this past year, reminding us that there's still no cure for cancer. It's a reminder that people out there need us to fundraise to help generate money for more life-saving research. We want cancer to one day be part of folklore. We want cancer to be so obliterated that our kids ask, "What's cancer?" when we mention the battle Aunt Julie and Cousin Andy faced long, long ago. This is the story we want for Generation Y, as a gift from Generation X. Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's evening walk and fundraising event. It is the nation's night to pay tribute and bring hope to thousands of people battling blood cancers and to commemorate loved ones lost. November 20th, our family and friends--including our 5 year old daughter, Elea, and our 2 1/2 year old son, Ty-- will be walking in honor and in memory of those we love that have battled (or are currently battling) cancer. Please make a donation to support our participation in the Light The Night Walk and help save lives (Elea and Ty's first fundraising adventure!). Or, better yet, join the Cures Rock! Team and come Light the Night with the rest of us. Thanks for your support! Blessings, The Vander Burgh Family Jason, Angie, Elea and Ty P.S. DID YOU KNOW? The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) funds lifesaving research that has contributed to major advances in the treatment of blood cancers and treatments for other types of cancer, such as chemotherapy and stem cell transplants. These treatments have helped patients live better, longer lives. New targeted therapies that kill cancer cells without harming normal tissue are providing drugs and procedures that are improving quality of life.
