Welcome to my Light The Night Walk homepage.

Back in 2004 while in college on my entertainment board I had the opportunity to book one of my favorite bands "Something Corporate" to come to my school. From the minute I knew the band was coming to Rider, I wanted everything to be perfect, I spent countless hours on minor details that no one would notice but myself.

September 11, 2004 was the day that Something Corporate played, and it was the first time I met the lead singer Andrew McMahon. The show went off perfectly and was a great success (this will play an important role later on). After the show wrapped up, at about midnight, I received a phone call from Arvis (the bands tour manager) asking if I knew any play they could "hang out", I immediately responded with my fraternity. So Andrew, Clutch (the bands bassist) and Arvis show up and we all partied the night away. From that day on Andrew would be considered my friend and has always been very gracious to me.

Fast forward to summer 2005 and I am graduating college, desperately searching for a job in the music industry. I get a call from a contact at Live Nation, who helped put on the Something Corporate show back in college. They have a job opening in booking and because of how well the Something Corporate show went, they would like me to come in for an interview. I was excited beyond belief, it was my DREAM job.

At this point Andrew is touring with his new band "Jack's Mannequin", and the same day I am going for an interview in Philadelphia at Live Nation, Jack's Mannequin is also playing at a venue in the city (coincidence?). After the interview going really well and of course speaking about Andrew in it, I find out sadly that the Jack's Mannequin concert for the night was canceled. After that, I find out the rest of the Jack's Mannequin tour was canceled. I didn't think much of it, so I just continued on my daily life.

A couple weeks go by and I get a call, I GOT THE JOB! I got the call on a Friday and started on that Monday. The first day I start at Live Nation, I find out that Andrew had canceled his tour because he was diagnosed with cancer, acute lymphatic leukemia to be exact. My heart stopped for a minute, to think Andrew has cancer was unthinkable, he is younger than me!

Fast forward again, Andrew has fully recovered after a long battle and is in full remission.

A couple years pass before I see Andrew. The summer of 2008 was the first time I saw him in about 2 years. I was nervous that he wouldn't remember me or have changed from that bright eyed guy I knew that sang amazing rock songs. Gladly, he didn't. After his concert, I walk back to his tour bus anxiously waiting to see an old friend. There was a line of about 30 people waiting to see him, out of the corner of his eye he sees me standing there. "HOLY $*** DUDE WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?!?!" was Andrew's greeting to me and runs over to me and slams me with a huge hug and we spent some time chatting and catching up.

I haven't lost contact with Andrew since then and every time I see him, he is truly happy to see me and gracious that I have come to see him perform, he always hooks me up with tickets and backstage passes knowing that there are a million people in line for the same thing, it makes me really appreciate it.

So I ask that you donate to the Leukemia and Lymphoma society, as their research helps treat the same type of cancer Andrew was

diagnosed with.

Cheers,

Adam
