Welcome to Team Tanner! This is our third Light the Night Walk and will hopefully be our best! Light the Night is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's annual walk to raise money to fight blood cancers and pay tribute to those who are fighting. We start at LP Field and walk across the Shelby St. bridge, down 1st Ave. and back across the river on the Woodland St. Bridge. The lights of downtown mingle with lighted balloons we are all carrying to make it a really beautiful celebration.
Tanner has finished her chemo treatments... but others haven't. Both kids and adults will continue to lose their lives, or at best, endure years of grueling chemo. We can't stop fighting... Tanner hasn't.
Presently, LLS has more than $250 million committed to research across the United States and in ten other countries. In fact, there has been a recent extremely exciting study by an LLS funded researcher where three terminal patients with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia were put into remission by re-injecting them with their own t-cells which were modified to attack Leukemia cells. Although it is very early research, three patients, who had been given no hope, were put into remission without using any chemo. We can't wait to see where this goes!
Please consider donating or, better yet, register to come walk with us! Hope to see you on October 14th!
Love,
Beth, John, Jake & Tanner
