Welcome to Team: "Small But Mighty's" Light The Night Walk homepage honoring Julian Larsen! This year I was honored to be elected Team Captain of the "Small But Mighty "! After a grueling long and rigorous election process between all the candidates, yours truly came out on top. Not since 2nd grade when I conducted Central Elementary's "orchestra" have I been this nervous. OK, it might have been a simple email from the wonderful Gena McReynolds (last I stiears leader, and Julian's 6th Grade teacher) asking me to be the co-captain with her. My goal is to honor my wonderful son, and all the wonderful work the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society does. This includes Children's Hospital, the SCCA, and Fred Hutch. If it wasn't for their grace, compassion, and unfathomable care - I just don't want to think what could have been. Instead, this year is a celebration of an amazing year - whenever you have the chance you can keep up with Julian on his Blog. Julian has been giving back in a big way himself. He volunteered for the Swedish SummeRun, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Buzz Cut at the Everett AquaSox Game. In the very near future he will be at the Puget Sound Heart Walk and in training to run in the WinterPineapple Classic. I would be honored if you would join us on September 26th to honor Julian and all those who have been affected by Leukemia & Lymphoma. If you can't make it, toss a couple bucks in the direction of this fine organization. . . . . . Now, a couple words from those in the know. . . . . Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's evening walk and fundraising event. It is the nation's night to pay tribute and bring hope to thousands of people battling blood cancers and to commemorate loved ones lost. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) funds lifesaving research that has contributed to major advances in the treatment of blood cancers and treatments for other types of cancer, such as chemotherapy and stem cell transplants. These treatments have helped patients live better, longer lives. New targeted therapies that kill cancer cells without harming normal tissue are providing drugs and procedures that are improving quality of life.
Please make a donation to support my participation in the Light The Night Walk and help save lives. Be sure to check my Web site frequently to see my progress, and thanks for your support! |
