Welcome to our Light The Night Walk homepage.

Light The Night Walk is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's evening walk and fundraising event. It is the nation's night to pay tribute and bring hope to thousands of people battling blood cancers and to commemorate loved ones lost.

We walk in loving memory of Jacquie Hirsch! As a daughter, sister, friend, cousin, teacher, mentor and more, Jacquie courageously battled Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia for nearly a year. Faced with chemotherapy, radiation, shots, pills, two bone marrow transplants, isolation, and countless hospital stays in Buffalo and New York City, Jacquie is an icon of strength, determination, and bravery.

Through her fight, Jacquie united thousands of people from all over the world who religiously checked her website awaiting good news and would leave her messages of continuing support & encouragement. Letters, text messages, cards and donations began to pour in immediately following Jacquie's diagnosis and the establishment of The Jacquie Hirsch For A.L.L. Foundation. Events where set up in order to help and because of Jacquie, over 1,100 people have registered to become life-saving bone marrow donors. Several have already received calls and pending further testing, may be able to directly save a patients life.

On Saturday, September 6, 2008, Jacquie’s fight came to an abrupt end. After several complications from her 2nd transplant and weeks in a drug induced coma, fighting for her life, Jacquie's organs began to shut down and she peacefully took her last breath with her parents, brother, and family at her side. Leaving us with a smile, one that thousands of people knew and loved, meant that Jacquie's fight and suffering was finally over.

Through her Foundation, we will continue Jacquie's fight against cancer where she left off by promoting awareness, events, research and support to other families and patients. Please join us as we walk to honor the year-long fight of Jacqueline Hirsch and preserve treasured memories of her, all in an effort to raise critical funds to stop cancer.

It is our belief that through Jacquie’s tragic circumstances we can use fundraising, increased research, and awareness to help extend and better the lives of other patients who are forced into these life threatening situations. Your care, concern, generosity and willingness to make a difference is very much appreciated.
