Reality Check - in honor of Rich "Hoot" Gibson
Feb 16, 2014
Welcome to our Light The Night Walk Team Fundraising Page
This team was formed to honor our late friend and colleague Rich "Hoot" Gibson, who died on July 3, 2013 from mantle cell lymphoma. Thanks to organizations like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, great advances have been made in treatments of lymphoma and leukemia. However, Hoot's cancer was rare and much research has yet to be done to find an effective treatment for that specific type.
The name of the team, Reality Check, was the name of Hoot's column in The Times Leader, where he worked as a news and sports reporter for most of his career. It's a sobering name, but at the same time, it's indicative of the fight we're all up against in ridding the world of cancer for good.
All donations to Reality Check for the LLS's Light The Night Walk directly benefit local patients in the form of patient aid (financial help and emotional help via the monthly Family Support Group). Money raised also goes toward lifesaving research. LLS really is making cures happen with your help.
You can help us out in honor of your friend and ours, Rich Gibson. Friends, families and co-workers join together to raise funds -- please consider joining our team's effort today by registering to walk or by making a donation.
Your participation in the Light The Night Walk will save lives today, and could make a difference in your next friend, family member or colleague suffering from lymphoma or leukemia. Be sure to check our team Web site frequently to see our progress, and thanks for your support!
