my story
Oct 12, 2018

I was Diagnosed on Wednesday 5/11/2000 on a day I was going to cleebrate my 5 month Wedding Anniversary. Let me back track to how I got here first.... It was 5/6/2000 a saturday afternoon I was very fatigued and only wanted to sleep my husband was outside washing our car, my mother in law was getting ready to leave to run errands she suggested I relax in a warm bath which I did. She left and I was alone inside the house while my husband was out in the yard. I remember slowly getting more fatigued and weak, I can not remember how I got out of the bath tub or how I made it from the bathroom to my bed. by the time I was sitting at the edge of the bed I lost my ability to speak and became so fatigued that I told my husband I wanted to sleep he called 911 for help everything after this is a bot blurred and I only remember bits and pieces I was transported to our nearby hospital which was coast plaza doctors hospital. I recieved many units of blood because when they checked my hemoglobin I was at 3.5 hgb the doctors there told my husband that if I would have gone one more day I would of been dead. From there I was transferred to St. Francis medcal center where I met a set of new doctors, I met Dr. Ogundipe who would be my Ob/gyn and Dr. Overby my oncologist being so young I did not know why I would need a hem/onc doctor I think if I would have understood I would have been prepared for the news he would be giving me a week later.......

I was only 19 years old and 7weeks pregnant. I began a journey that day with my unborn son. I started chemotherapy a week later on a friday night my team of doctors wanted to begin treatment as soon as I turned 8weeks pregnant, after declining their multiple suggestions of having an abortion.  I endured treatment my whole pregnancy I never gave up hope or my faith in GOD. My son was monitored every month during my treatment he was born while i was only 32 weeks weighing 3lbs 8oz  thank you to GOD he was healthy my son just as me survived a fight that many perish. He is now 18yrs old he is a healthy young man who now just like me has a story, a story that can inspire and motivate.

Welcome to My Light The Night Fundraising Page

Join me in bringing light to the darkness of cancer by donating towards my fundraising efforts in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night.

By giving a donation today, you can help children like Jordyn. At just 6 years old, Jordyn was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma - a diagnosis no parent ever wants to hear. Within a day of diagnosis, she had already started chemotherapy. Numerous lumbar punctures and blood transfusions soon followed. Her life had changed in an instant. Today, Jordyn is in remission, she's a vibrant, happy and healthy 9 year-old girl.

Money raised through Light The Night allows The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to fund treatments for patients who are suffering from all forms of blood cancers. The impact of LLS supported research goes beyond blood cancers. The discoveries made in blood cancer research have led to break through treatments for many cancers and other serious diseases.

Help defeat the darkness of cancer. Please make a donation today to continue to help children like Jordyn!
