Zoomin' Fireflies
May 31, 2018

Nineteen years ago our lives changed when Claire, now 20, was diagnosed with ALL.  Conner, who was 5 at the time decided he wanted to pay the doctors to save his sister.  He formed Zoomin' Fireflies as a LTN walk team and for the next 10 years accomplished every goal he set.  He had the top team in the Lehigh Valley for all those years, he beat every corporate team in fundraising at least once, he raised $100,000 dollars and saw that the doctor who diagnosed and treated Claire got a research grant from money raised at our walk.  Even our team name is filled with his thoughtfulness.  Claire loved the book Sam and the Firefly by P.D. Eastman and since every team needs a mascot and idea was born.  With permission from the estate of the author Gus the firefly became our mascot.  At the age of 15 after 10 years as a team captain and 10 years on the walk committee he retired the team and focused on other dreams.

Just recently I felt a need to resurect the team, I had no idea why but I pondered my options.  Shortly after the thought of starting the team again I got a call from a friend and one of the original 5 team members.  Her son's best friend had just been diagnosed with ALL.  And it all became clear, life is a circle and there was a purpose to forming the team again.  We will be walking in Evans this year and hope to once again have a big team of family and friends join us.  If there is enough interest we will also again have our trademark team shirts.

Welcome to Our Light The Night Walk Team Fundraising Page

Thanks to dedicated people like you, funds raised from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Light The Night Walk help support the research of blood cancer treatments that save lives.

Without your efforts LLS could not fund the research of such treatments as targeted therapies that zero in on cancer cells and kill them or immunotherapy drugs that use a patient's own immune system to kill cancer.

Please join our team's effort today by registering to walk or by making a donation. Your participation in the Light The Night Walk will save lives not someday, but today.

Be sure to check our team page frequently to see our progress!

Thank you for bringing us all closer to living in a world without blood cancers!
