Help defeat the darkness of cancer.

Nine days before my 9th birthday, my best friend, Elizabeth Fontana, lost her battle with leukemia.  Three years later, I lost my uncle, my mother's oldest brother, Joseph Siniarski, to the same disease.  It was around that same time that Elizabeth's father, Bob, passed away from leukemia as well.  To say it was overwhelming would be an understatement.  It made me paranoid for years that I would receive a diagnosis because as a young adolescent, barely halfway through middle school, how could this many people I'm close to all have leukemia?

I would continue to lose some family and friends to different types of cancer in the upcoming years.  It made the self-realization of mortality and spirituality shine bright at a very young age.  It made me grow up faster, appreciate more, and throw my whole heart into music and writing as a way to express the things I couldn't understand.

And I still don't understand.

In the summer of 2016, my godfather, Michael Siniarski, was abruptly diagnosed with leukemia...the same disease that had taken his brother years ago.  We were completely devastated.  But he was my lion and I truly believed with all of my heart that he could beat it.  There were times of great hope and triumph, and just as quickly as those moments came, there were moments of deep defeat.  In less than a year after his diagnosis, we lost him.

We're all tired of losing.

I need this light.  We all need this light.

I walk on September 30th to let the light shine through the holes leukemia has left in my life.  In my family's life.  In so many lives.  Please help me join in bringing light to the darkness of cancer by donating towards my fundraising efforts to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night.

Money raised through Light The Night allows The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to fund treatments for patients who are suffering from all forms of blood cancers. The impact of LLS supported research goes beyond blood cancers. The discoveries made in blood cancer research have led to break through treatments for many cancers and other serious diseases.
