Young Hearts Celebrate 15 Years of Lighting The Night with LLS!

We  invite you to join us in honoring and improving the lives of those affected by blood-related cancers.

The Young Hearts team was established in 2000 to honor Ryan McLaughlin, who was a bright and goofy 11 year old when diagnosed with T-cell ALL. After more than a year of grueling treatments and devastating relapses, he celebrated his 13th birthday by carrying a white ‘survivor’ balloon and walking with his family at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s first Light the Night Walk in Washington, DC. Only a few months later, Ryan lost his courageous battle with leukemia.

Determined to continue his fight, Ryan’s friends and family came together to create the Young Hearts—a team of passionate and inspiring students that has participated in every Light the Night Walk since 2000. As one of the largest, youngest, top fund-raising teams in Washington, D. C., we remain determined in our shared mission of finding cures.

This October, with W. T. Woodson H.S. seniors Olivia Fanet, Noelle Gill, and Anna O’Hara as our captains, we will honor those affected by Blood-related cancers by participating in our 15th Light the Night Walk. We honor the memory of those who lost their battle with blood cancer. We celebrate the young members of our community who have won the battle against cancer and support those who are still fighting.

If you would like us to walk in honor of your loved one, please send his/her name and we will add it to our banner or send us a photo and we will add it to our photo board. Names and photos should be sent to YoungHeartsLTN@gmail.com.

Please join our team's effort today by registering to walk or by making a donation. Your participation in the Light The Night Walk will save lives today. Be sure to check our team Web site frequently to see our progress, and thanks for your support!
