"No one ever became poor from giving"

-Anne Frank

Two other Young Hearts officers and I representing our club at a middle school activities fair

My Tante MoMo was diagnosed with lymphoma when I was still a little girl. I remember always wearing her wig for fun, shehad named it Ronda. She was so positive throughout all of her treatment, and she was always focused or her niece and nephews happiness. She insipired me to stay positive through hard times. Within 2 years she was cancer free. MoMo was very blessed, but some people aren't as lucky. Thousands of fathers, mothers, children, aunts, uncles, brothers, and sisters are lost to blood cancer each year. These lives aren't just a statistic, they each had people who loved and cared about them. I'm working with Young Hearts to create more success stories like my aunt was so fortunate to have. She is now 10 years in remission, and has shown me that there isn't ever a reason to give up. My aunt is just one of the thousands of people the LLS strives to save.

My aunt and I at Light the Night 2016, this was right after I cut my hair to be donated!

This is my third year participating in Light The Night. My experience working with LLS has been so powerful, that I was moved to become a team captain last year, and help all of the Young Hearts team to reach both individual and group goals.

Former president, Jess Meaders, giving a thumbs up of encouragement before I cut my hair!

After a successful LTN as team captain, two other Young Hearts and I ran for LLS's Students of the Year Campaign. We were able to raise over $27,000 in just 6 weeks!

Recently, I started my term as president of this amazing club. I am so passionate about blood cancer research, and it is amazing to think that donors LIKE YOU are the reason that LLS has made monumental strides in the fight against blood cancer.

Thank you for bringing us all closer to living in a world without blood cancers!
