Pete Phipps was the one who NEVER got sick or even took a sick day off work for 30 years. That was years ago when a DOT physical found something wrong with his blood work. There wasn’t anything that needed to be done for two years until he found a lump under his arm and went to the doctor it was time to start chemo... that was healed and was in remission again for quite some time and Pete finally retired after 30 years of service at his job for Montgomery County Government. He was ready to relax and moved to Tennessee, where he enjoyed the life a retired man. Fishing and just enjoying everything about not having to worry about rushing. Then the cancer had returned and so did he back to Maryland he came for the best treatment he could find. We watched Pete decline slowly and a new cancer has developed in his neck and jaw and they don’t know how to treat it and then he gets a letter from the American Legion that our government poisoned him back when he was in Vietnam by using Agent Orange and listed the side effects and diseases that it causes, both of the cancers that Pete had where on that list. He decided after a long battle of in and out of the hospitals and back and forth to the doctors that he was done he didnt want any more Chemo. So in November 2010 that was it. The cancer had spread and he declined very quickly and On February 12, 2011, our family lost the best father, husband, Grandfather, brother and friend. Our family has made this cause our #1 priority; I personal don’t want any other families to have to battle like we did with no answers. People need to know and so we have joined the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in the Light the Night Walk for our 3rd year. So Join our team or make a donation even a small amount can help.

Thanks to dedicated people like you, funds raised from The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Light The Night Walk help support the research of blood cancer treatments that save lives.

Without your efforts LLS could not fund the research of such treatments as targeted therapies that zero in on cancer cells and kill them or immunotherapy drugs that use a patient's own immune system to kill cancer.

Please join our team's effort today by registering to walk or by making a donation. Your participation in the Light The Night Walk will save lives not someday, but today.

Be sure to check our team page frequently to see our progress!

Thank you for bringing us all closer to living in a world without blood cancers!
