Welcome to My Light The Night Fundraising Page
Join me in bringing light to the darkness of cancer by donating towards my fundraising efforts in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night.
This year will mark the 10th year anniversary of my participation with Light the Light! I’m walking and fundraising to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2018 Light The Night event on Saturday, November 10th! The funds I raise are needed to help find better treatments and cures for blood cancers so patients can live better, longer lives.
Will you support me and my efforts to helping to cure cancer? Thanks to your generous donations I am on target to hit my ten year fundraising goal of $20,000! I know with your support I’ll not only reach my goal, but exceed it!
As you may know, I lost my dad in 2008 to acute myeloid leukemia (AML). AML has seen little in terms of new treatment options in the past 40 years. However that’s all changed thanks to LLS and a recently approved new therapy for AML patients. As incredible as this is, it’s also very bittersweet. We’re making progress but there is still a long way to go and I need your help to see this through.
Light the Night became even more personal for me in 2017. After months of not feeling well, repeated tests and multiple doses of antibiotics, I turned to my ENT. He ran even more tests and after no clear answer recommended a biopsy of the lymph nodes in my neck. The preliminary results came back benign and I was elated. That all changed on January 20th when I received a phone call telling me my test results had come in and I needed to see the doctor. He shared with me the three dreaded words no one wants to hear, “you have cancer”. I was diagnosed with small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL), a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Although the prognosis is good and I’m feeling well, those three words stopped me in my tracks. I now understood the term “new normal”.

Cancer impacts all of us, but because of events like Light The Night we can make a difference. The mission of LLS is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. Help me help others so they don’t have to experience the loss of a loved one like I did.
Thank you, in advance, for your donation and support!
